Erroll Williams has served as an Orleans Parish Assessor since 1985, when there were seven assessment districts. Due to reforms instituted since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Mr. Williams was elected as the City of New Orleans sole Assessor. In 2011, he unified the city’s assessment tax roll, now one of the state’s largest, comprised of more than 176,000 residential and commercial parcels valued at over $7.1 billion. Mr. Williams has overseen the modernization of the office, bringing transparency by instituting Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal, posting a detailed website, and offering improved public service through enhanced staff training and the institution of online and virtual services.
